Namibia as a member state of the United Nations World Tourism Organization joins other member states in celebrating World Tourism Day on 27 September. The official World Tourism Day 2024 celebration, which is the 44th edition, will be held in Georgia themed "Tourism and Peace", ambitioned to explore the intersection of travel and fostering harmony worldwide. The theme with emphasis on peace is a good fit for Namibia as we prepare for Presidential and National Assembly election slated for November 2024, as elections can either contribute to peacebuilding efforts or exacerbate existing tensions, depending on the conduct of political leaders, electoral processes and responses to election outcomes.
